Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog! My name is Lorell Rogers and I'm a stay- at-home wife and mom to four children. My favorite things include chocolate, Zumba, reading, traveling, ballet class, camping, and spending time with family.
I started
scrapbooking with traditional paper supplies back in 1997. I visited
the same local scrapbooking store for about a year. One day, I
walked in, and shortly after, started chatting with one of the store
managers there. She asked if I'd come in for a job interview.
Luckily for me, I was hired and had the privilege of learning better
techniques and cool trends from my highly talented co-workers. I not
only learned the retail aspect of working in the store, but had the
opportunity to be part of the in-house design team. I helped create
page and project samples for the store, and even did a short stint
teaching classes.
After about
three years of working there, I left to pursue my other dreams of
teaching preschool and starting a family. I discovered the joy of
working on design teams for online scrapbooking stores. I used that
outlet to express my arsty side and keep ties to the paper crafting
community. In 2006, after years of waiting and hoping, my husband
and I got a call where we were asked if we'd consider adopting four
very young children, two of which were still babies. A month later,
they came home with us for good. It literally turned our world
upside down (in the very best way).
As you can
imagine, nearly everything about my lifestyle had to change. My
scrapbooking hobby was no exception. I chose to give up my scrapping
space so that a couple of my kids could use it for a bedroom. This
meant that when I wanted to scrap, I had to dig things out of boxes
in the garage. That didn't work out so well, as you have probably
guessed. While I still loved paper scrapbooking, I desperately
missed being able to do it on a regular basis. I decided to learn
digital scrapbooking as an alternative. What started out as
something that allowed me to make layouts in between diaper changes
and meals has turned into so much more.
I enjoy all
the fascinating things I can do on a digital page using brushes,
blending modes, recoloring techniques and more. I have had the
privilege of serving on creative teams for some wonderfully talented
digital designers over the past few years, and have loved every
minute of it.
I have
added digital and traditional art journaling, and sometimes hybrid
projects to my love for memory keeping. I love the freedom and
expression that are possible with these types of projects. I find
that my art journaling and scrapbooking influence one another and
increase my creativity.
I hope you
enjoy your time here.
