I hope everyone is enjoying 2018 so far! Around here, we are in the midst of celebrating birthdays and being happy that we don't have the type of winter we had last year at this time, when we had crazy amounts of snow. I'm thankful for the mild weather we are experiencing.
I've also been busy getting my bullet journal set up for the new year. It's been a bit challenging to get it done, with so much happening around here, but here is my video showing you the direction I've decided to go:
If you'd rather read about my pages than watch the video, pictures of each spread are below. For most of the pages you'll see, I used the 2018 Planner Update Kit. You can find this in her Etsy shop, and I think it's a great deal considering all the goodies you get in it. I personally love the color scheme and her design style.
Here is my title page and key. I used one of MissTiina's planner covers, which I modified a bit. The page was titled "Everyday Planner, which I colored over and then wrote "Bullet Journal" instead. I had a gap at the top of the page, since the cover didn't fit the BuJo page well, so I hand lettered the year in that space. For the page, I popped in an insert that was supposed to be for notes, lettered a title at the top, an modified the banner printed there by coloring over words and adding in a heart.
I could've easily passed this kit over, because the titles and words weren't exactly fitting for it. By drawing over the elements that didn't suit me so well, I customized it but still used the cute design elements I could still make use of.
Here is a page spread I inserted from the kit. It was intended to be yearly notes, but again, I modified it to become my index. I colored white on the little banner flags so that these can be category titles instead of months of the year. The title lettering is one I came up with myself, based on a year of practicing other styles.
I'm awfully proud of this spread! I didn't use any pages from the planner kit --- I used the same color scheme, but everything else was created by me! I drew it all and love that it ties in with the rest of the pages I'm showing today. I felt like my future log from last year was way too boring, and this one makes me happy. I will be looking at this a lot more than last year's.
I made a Year-at-a-Glance page, as well as a more YouTube/Blogging schedule for this year as well. The calendar is from MissTiina, but everything else on this spread my work. I find that I can't just rely on my future log...I need to see where days of the month fall, especially if my family and I are planning a trip, event, etc. I'm such a visual person, and so this alternate view helps me so much. I also decided to plan out my YouTube blog posts for the year so that I try and be more consistent. I have a harder time staying on track if I don't write it down, so here' hoping I can post more regularly for you guys!
Once I got done with the yearly set up, I finally was able to move into my January spreads. I did my monthly calendar, as per usual, but also decided to put in a monthly plan for filming videos, since doing this often goes by the wayside as I try to keep up with my daily family responsibilities. I'm trying to break it down into chunks that I can fit in with my daily routine so it's more manageable. We'll see how it goes!
I was only able to get in two weekly spreads for January. I did borrow a lettering style from the Pinterest Board I curated on hand lettering for the second spread, but otherwise the rest of these spreads are my original work. I chose to keep them simple since the end of the month was drawing near, and I wanted to make sure I got February's spreads done on time.
Alrighty, guys! I believe we've reached the end of this post. Thanks for sticking with it until the end of the post. Let me know what your 2018 BuJo set up looks like, if you feel so inclined. I hope you have a spectacular day!
